My top tracks of December 2017!
Hello everyone!
As we come into the busiest time of year and 2017 draws to a close, there are a couple of songs that totally deserve some recognition before the year is up.
So without further ado, lets jump right into it!
The first song on my list is the Homemade Dynamite remix by Lorde featuring Khalid, Post Malone and SZA. Originally released as a part of the Melodrama album with no features, it was this remix of the song however that gained mainstream attention. The song of the Alternative/Indie-pop persuasion only reached No.92 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, which is surprising considering that three of the four artists on the track have at least one Grammy nomination. It is a shame that this quality song has gone largely unappreciated as it is packed full of young, up-and-coming talent, intriguing lyrics and a uniqueness that is rare in mainstream music. It is definitely worth a listen before the year is out.
British group Clean Bandit never fails to impress listeners and are known for their electro-dance/pop tracks featuring many up-and-coming artists, including Jess Glynne, Zara Larson and Anne-Marie. Clean Bandit have delivered yet again on I Miss You featuring Julia Michaels, which is sure to be one of the top songs of the holiday season. In early 2017, Julia Michaels burst onto the pop scene with her debut hit single Issues which reached No.1 on Australian charts and No.10 on the Billboard Hot 100. Clean Bandit and Michaels wrote I Miss You together, resulting in both the artists' distinct styles being prominent throughout the track, particularly in the lyrics which are both relatable and extremely relevant. The song is perfect for the Aussie summer as it has a "drive-with-the-windows-down" feel to it and a certain lightness about it despite what the lyrics might suggest.
For the laid-back song Meant To Be, Bebe Rexha teamed up with country-pop duo Florida Georgia Line, which is an interesting yet well received and executed mix. Bebe Rexha's signature stlye is present in the song, from the conversational lyrics to the stripped-back "less is more" beat and melody. Even though Florida Georgia Line are slightly lesser known in mainstream music than Bebe Rexha, they certainly hold their own throughout the track and give it that extra something that makes a song special, unique and destined to be a hit. The song undeniably strikes a cord with listeners with its relevant and relatable lyrics and clear intent. The track's positive disposition makes it extremely easy to listen to and fall in love with almost instantly. It's sure to be one of your favourite songs this holiday season!
