You didn't realize you knew these artists!
Welcome back everyone!
Today I'm going to go through three artists that you most likely know from featuring on popular tracks, but totally deserve their recognition for their music.
Skylar Grey
You'll know her from Macklemore's 2017 hit 'Glorious' however she has done songs for multiple movie soundtracks, including 'Fifty Shades of Grey', 'Fast and Furious 7' and 'Step Up Revolution'. Grey has released three albums and two EP's over her career, each with an abundance of stunning music that deserves more recognition on the mainstream music scene.
My personal favourite song of Grey's is 'Dance Without You'. The track is enticing, as it starts with an interesting rhythm instrumental, but then Grey's vocals are added and the balance between basic and too busy are perfect. The chorus reaches a new level of intensity in the track which was slowly but surely built up to create a spectacular atmosphere within the song. For a change of pace, an equally amazing song worth listening to is 'Words'. It's a little slower and less busy than 'Dance Without You', but it is just as breathtaking.
Gin Wigmore
You'll know her from the 2015 hit 'Willing To Die' featuring famous rappers Logic and Suffa. Wigmore has a solid fanbase in the Alternative/Indie genre but definitely has the potential to reach mainstream success.
This is demonstrated throughout her latest album 'Blood To Bone' and particularly in the leading track 'New Rush'. With an infectious beat, intriguing vocals and pop/indie-rock vibes, it's a song you'll never get sick of.
Wigmore also does her own take on 'Black Parade' that is both beautiful and haunting and is sure to send shivers down your spine. With this track she demonstrates her ability to create deep emotion and feeling in her music.
Natalie Bergman
Natalie is one half of the sibling duo that are Wild Belle. You'll know her from Major Lazer's 2015 hit 'Be Together'. Her music mainly keeps to the psychedelic/indie-rock genre but also has a laid-back reggae element to it.
My personal favourite song of Bergman's is 'Keep You'. Bergman's unique vocals are prominent throughout the track and nicely compliment the reggae feel and interesting instrumentals without over-powering it.
Another song worth a listen is 'It's Too Late'. With slightly stronger vocals and saxophone solos which catch the listener off guard, it has an interesting atmosphere about it.
Let me know in the comments down below if you would like to see more of this kind of post on my blog!
