Songs that are sure to rock your summer!

Hello again everyone!
Early October has seen the release of some great songs that could easily be summer anthems. Some of these songs aren't even charting yet, but could easily be Number 1 in the coming weeks!

Kiss and Make Up - Dua Lipa Ft. BLACKPINK

More Dua Lipa's style than BLACKPINK's, this track seamlessly blends western pop and K-pop and is sure to climb the charts in America and Britain. However, it's success might be hard to gauge in Australia due to the little influence of K-pop music aside from die-hard fans. This collaboration is a brilliant career move for both artists as it widens BLACKPINK's influence in western culture while also bringing Lipa's music to a new audience. Though the track is a definite hit, the quality of the track is somewhat disappointing compared to the artists' previous works. As it plays into Lipa's hip-hop influenced pop style, it leaves much to be desired from the insanely talented BLACKPINK and is noticeably missing Jennie and Lisa's signature rap verse. As for Dua Lipa, while her vocals are on point as usual, she seems too over-produced compared to her other hits and ultimately lacks enthusiasm. While it is still a great song, much more could have been done with this genius collaboration.

Broken - Lovelytheband

Take a trip back to 2011 with this laid-back summer jam. Similar to Foster the People's smash hit "Pumped Up Kicks", if history is to repeat itself this song should have no trouble reaching the top of the charts. With a simple melody, a driving drum beat, airy chords and absence of a heavy baseline, it's the type of song that worms it's way into your head and has you humming it for the rest of the summer. The lighthearted vibe of the music attempts to distract from the heavier lyric content, much like it's predecessor "Pumped Up Kicks" or even OutKast's "Hey Ya". With alternative/indie roots, the track is an interesting chart debut, yet a welcome respite from the mumble-rap and hip-hop infused pop currently dominating radio airways.

Just Got Paid - Sigala Ft. Ella Eyre, Meghan Trainor & French Montana

On the surface, this is a typical party song that bound to get you up and dancing and in the mood for summer. However, there is a lot going on in this song. Sigala does excellently well to produce this track with three artists who have three very individual styles and creates a well-polished electro beat. Ella Eyre steals the show with her powerful vocals and completely overshadows the better-know Meghan Trainor. Trainor actually sings very little in the song and her feature comes across as more of a cameo to reignite her receding career. While French Montana isn't a lyrical genius like Kendrick Lamar, his rap verse does take the song to a new level and offers some promise for his career. This is the ultimate summer feel-good song which you are bound to hear at any party you go to.
