This weeks Top Picks 23/8/17

Hello everyone! Just to try something different and mix things up a bit, I thought I'd share with you some of my favourite songs of the week. Enjoy! This first song is a real toe-tapper. "Feel it Still" by Portugal The Man recently hit Australian airwaves and is one of those songs that you can love almost immediately. With it's upbeat tempo, chilled vibes and an alternative/indie sound that isn't in your face, it's the perfect song for anytime of day, including first thing in the morning and last thing at night. It's great song to workout to or just chill out to on weekends. Jaira Burns debut single "Ugly" is the new-pop sound you're sure to love. Uploaded to YouTube in June of this year, the song now has over 1.5 million views and it's really no wonder why it was such an instant success. Despactio: The biggest song of the decade?

You'd have to be living under a rock to have not heard the Latin pop hit " Despacito". The song by Luis Fonsi Ft. Daddy Yankee dominated the Latin pop charts for the majority of 2017 and reached the top of American and European charts not long after. Though Despactio's  mainstream success was largely thanks to one Justin Bieber covering the song. Nevertheless, on the 5/08/2017, Despactio became the most viewed video in YouTube history, reaching over 3 billion views. This undoubtedly makes Despacito one of the biggest songs of 2017, and possibly even the decade. It has marked the way for more Latin music to come through into the mainstream music scene, which could possibly be  a major turning point in music history and I definitely think we will begin to see more diversity in mainstream music because of songs like Despacito.
